Yes, although Yeadon Sailing Club is a private members club, we are more than happy to welcome new members. See the 'Sail at Yeadon SC' page for more information.
No, come to one of our Come & Try sessions and see if you like sailing, then if you do you can join in as part of our Tuesday night training sessions and go through our structured practical and online theory training course. See 'Sail at Yeadon SC' page for more information.
Yes, we have storage facilities for sailing dinghies in the dinghy park. We do have a 14ft size limit rule (no bigger than) and we only store sailing dinghies. See the membership page for more information on this.
You have the wrong place then, this is the Sailing Club, I suspect you need to talk to Leeds Sailing & Activity Centre located next to Yeadon Sailing Club.
We generally only take children of 8 or above, this is due to the size of the buoyancy aids we have and also they need to be able to follow clear instructions. Otherwise your never too old to sail.
Bring an old pair of trainers, a wind and waterproof top. If it's sunny, bring suntan lotion and a cap, if it's cold, bring a woolly hat. Avoid jeans and cotton as it can be very cold when wet. It's usually a degree or two cooler on the water so bear this in mind. Always bring a towel and a change of clothing, people sometimes fall in! We will provide buoyancy aids and will give you instruction.
Yes, you need to be able to swim and be confident around water.
Members can borrow club boats for club activities but we don't hire boats to the general public.
Fishing is permitted at Tarnfield Park, if you would like to enjoy a day fishing in the tarn, you can get tickets from the Aireborough and District Angling Association, please contact them on telephone number 01532 784 445.
YSC members will always do there best to accommodate everyone and help them sail, but we are not fully kitted out for all disabled sailors. Our boats have not been modified, we have no jetty hoist and until we get a new club house, it is not fully accessible. Call us or contact us and we will do our best to help you out. Otley sailing club has disabled facilities should you wish to contact them.
