YSC has something for everyone
YSC offers plenty of opportunities for those new to sailing and those with experience.
If you are new to sailing or have a small amount of experience that you would like to develop then we would recommend coming along to one of our Come & Try sessions. If you enjoy sailing then you will be more than welcome to join the club and take part in our 'Start Sailing' training sessions.
Once you have mastered the basics, we will introduce you to our 'Start Racing' programme. This will help you develop you skills further and you will then be able to take part in the clubs weekly racing programme.
Experienced Sailors If you have previous experience and are keen to join in YSC's social or racing sailing activities straight away then all you will need to do is join.

Come & Try Sailing
These sessions are run weekly from April to July, places on Tuesday nights are limited to 6 to 10 people and to cover costs we ask for a £10 donation per person sailing.
Once you have attended a Come & Try session you are welcome to join and take part in our Start Sailing training sessions.
The main conditions of attending a Come & Try session are:
- You can swim
- You can follow instructions
Start Sailing
Training is a core activity at the club, on Tuesday evenings we take members through the basics of sailing to get them to a level that they can sail a course independentally.
We repeat the training throughout the training season so you can join at almost anytime from April to August and still have the opportunity to learn.

Social Sailing
Social sailing is an excellent way to build up your sailing skills.
During the summer season on Saturday afternoons/evenings, members can make use of the tarn for social sailing. Please see the calendar for dates when this will be taking place.
Start Racing
Racing is an excellent way to make to build up your skills. We support members wishing to get into sailing by teaching rules and tactics. We also work with you to refine what you will have learn't todate.
Racing takes place on Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays from March to October. From November to December we only sail on Sundays.
All the racing members at Yeadon had to learn somewhere so other racers are considerate to new starters and often provide advice during the races.
