Yeadon Sailing Club is a family orientated club with a good mix of leisure and competitive sailing opportunities located near Leeds Bradford Airport in Yorkshire. Yeadon Tarn is a safe and easy to access lake, located in a popular park with plenty of free car parking.
For members we run Start Sailing and Go Sailing courses on Tuesday evenings and welcome people to come along and Try Sailing.
YSC welcomes new members regardless of their sailing experience. The best way to get involved is to take part in our Come & Try sailing sessions on Tuesday evenings. Running from April to July or during our Open Day, interested members of the community can go sailing with one of our experienced members.
If you enjoy the Come & Try session, then you will be invited to join as a member and take part in our Start Sailing training programme designed to teach you the basics. Using online and on water teaching, we will teach you the skills to sail a course around the tarn independentally.
Once you have mastered the basics then you can take part in social sailing or racing. It probably won't stop there, a number of our members have gone on to sail for Britain or take part in the round world Clipper Race.
Attending a Come & Try session only costs £10 and helps towards the running of the club.
Ever since 1928, YSC has been helping the local community enjoy the environmentally and fun sport of sailing. Our ability to provide this support in years to come is under threat and we need to build new modern training facilities.
YSC are looking for support from the community to raise the money needed to achieve our mission. This is an important project for the club and the community of up and coming sailing talent.

YSC training team has put together an Online Learning Course for Sailing Theory. This self paced course has been designed to be used alongside our Tuesday night Start Sailing course run from April to August.
Enrolment to the course is free and you can start learning today alongside your own practical sailing training.
YSC has an excellent reputation for supporting the development of sailors at all levels. Our volunteer instructors go the extra mile to help you understand the basics and make the most of sailing...
I had a great time and learned lots and thankfully was given the opportunity to sail solo which let me focus more on the tasks.
The club is very welcoming and I really enjoyed the 'push' that the trainers gave, to test boundaries and find the learners speed and capabilities.
